Monterey Next Generation Jazz Festival

Shelly Berg appears at the opening night concert, and as a festival judge, at the 48th Annual Next Generation Jazz Festival, featuring the nation’s most talented middle school, high school, conglomerate, and college instrumental and vocal jazz ensembles and soloists. The festival will be held at the newly-renovated Monterey Conference Center from March 9-11, 2018.

Aaron Tindall: Eclectic Tuba

Frost School professor of tuba and euphonium Aaron Tindall reimagines Claude Bolling's Suite for Cello and Jazz Piano Trio, originally written for cellist Yo-Yo Ma, with Dean Shelly Berg on piano. The program also includes Fred Tackett’s The Yellow Bird, a jazz-rock concerto for tuba and rhythm section.

PBS: Library of Congress Gershwin Prize Honoring Tony Bennett

Shelly Berg appears on PBS on January 12 as pianist and arranger for the Library of Congress Gershwin Prize honoring Tony Bennett (WPBT2 in Miami, check your local listings for broadcast information in other regions). The event, taped on November 15, 2017 at the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) Constitution Hall in Washington, D.C., features performances by Bennett, as well as Chris Botti, Michael Bublé, Michael Feinstein, Savion Glover, Josh Groban, Wé McDonald, Brian Stokes Mitchell, Vanessa Williams and a special presentation by Wynton Marsalis — with Bruce Willis as host and Gregg Field as music director.

Be inspired by celebrated jazz pianist Shelly Berg in a one-hour journey through the evolution of jazz and its influences on some of the celebrated songs and artists inspired by the Civil Rights Movement.  Cans of food and free-will donations will be accepted for Feeding South Florida.
